English Curriculum Overview
Our vision:
During KS3, we explore the world around us through fiction and non-fiction texts, both old and new. We examine our world as writers, authors, critics, orators, poets exploring key concepts such as the environment, the effect of conflict, the impact of poverty, a range of relationships, identity and many more.
At KS4, we continue to explore our key concepts at a higher level as we follow the AQA specification for English Language and English Literature, which are taught as two discrete subjects building on skills developed in KS3.
We offer 3 subjects for further study at A-Level: Media, English Literature and English Language. Our subject specialists cover a range of interesting modules on how children learn to speak (English Language), a dive into the eerily realistic dystopian world of A Handmaid’s Tale (English Literature) or analyse what makes Stranger Things such a hit (Media), and much more!
