Art Curriculum Overview

Art is a very popular, high achieving subject and this is reflected in the work students produce and the numbers of students taking it on to examination level. The course provides students with a wide range of creative, exciting and stimulating opportunities to explore their interests in Art and Design.

The department consists of skilled and experienced specialists who introduce students to artists and their work and give demonstrations of practical skills, explanations about different ways of seeing and making art. When studying art students will investigate individual artists and art movements, research and make gallery visits and experiment with materials, developing techniques and ideas.

Our Art Department has 3 well-equipped rooms and a sixth form studio, providing opportunity for a broad based curriculum throughout Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level. At GCSE and A Level we offer both Photography and Art.
